Person Backpacking
2-4 person backpacking trip with dog. need tips/ tricks.?
me and some friends are going to be backpacking in the upper peninsula of Michigan this summer. i’ve gone backpacking before, but never with the dog. does anyone have any tips or ideas that would make this a better trip? i’ve made him a doggie backpack that can hold some of his stuff and mine… but so far thats really it.
since we may be going to isle royale, ive heard there are wolves. should i leave him in the tent with me at night? or leave him tied out? i know to keep him leashed when walking and basic rules of picking up after him etc. but im blank on the rest.

I’ve spent a lot of time hiking the back country of a lot of National Parks and I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a hiker with a dog. My best guess would be that dogs would be prohibited in the back-country because of the danger they would represent to wildlife and to themselves.
